Woodlands

A great weekend was had by all at our annual Woodlands camping weekend with the highlights being our newly invented game "Rugbyrounders" and the endless

anecdotes given by Mark & Scott.

Cricket2010

A  walkover was declared when the opposition cancelled. Therefore a hasty curry night was organised to celebrate our first victory for four years!

Kevin Hunt was declared man of the match for not bowling any wides or byes for the first time in his cricket career.

AGM 2010

Another year gone by - another new Chairman. Richard Steggall's skill with a whistle and keeping 30 rugby players in order of a Saturday afternoon will come in handy trying to get the HRT members to conform and sort themselves out!  Richard's President for 2010 is former 2000 Chairman and regular supporter Martin Davies.  Chains of office were exchanged at the AGM on 14 April and Kevin Hunt went off for a well deserved lie down.

Christmas 2009

We owe a very big "thank-you" to all our supporters over the Christmas period.  Support was in evidence in both the fantastic donations made to Round Table during the Christmas Float routes as well as the encouragement and vocal support made in the Midweek Hearld.  This back-up makes our efforts all the more worth while, knowing that it brings a lot of joy and seasonal happiness to virtually the whole town and district.  Indeed we met one lady visiting from Greece who was amazed at seeing Father Christmas in all his finest. Our street collections raise a super total of £534 which in these times of financial uncertainty and  fiscal wariness is a credit to the Town.  This years Christmas will be remembered for many years to come; we were almost called to a police indentity parade as potential witnesses to a crime scene, we had an unhappy Dickensian character contact us and finally the float went missing after a hastily arranged change of storage venue between Christmas and the New Year.  The most important thing is that our and your efforts allow us to make some serious donations to local good causes in 2010.

Our collection day at Tesco's Honiton brought in a great total of £471.  Our thanks go out to Tesco's for allow us the opportunity to collect once again and to their customers for their generosity.

Carnival 2009

Our entry as Strictly Table Dancing was well received by the crowds.  The judges were equally impressed and awarded us second place in our category.  There were some tired legs the morning after the evening spent dancing up the whole High Street.

Conkers 2009

Around 16 members and past members took part in this years battle of the conkers at the Conker Dome (Hare and Hounds Marquee Extention).  Stamping was banned under the IFCP rules (International Federation of Conker Players) and after four rounds of gruelling competition, the winner of the 2009 International Invitation Competition was James Clifford-Davies.  As conkers become less frequent due to trees being felled, the fruits of Aesculus hippocastanum for this year's event came from Somerset and Milton Keynes.  All were tested for skullduggery, baking, vinegar and (as happened in 2007) iradiation.  Thus the result is a true test of the skill of hand/eye coordination.

2009 AGM

The year of chairmanship for Steve Miller-Ratcliffe came an end at the April AGM. Kevin Hunt took over the reigns with a new team of officers and supported by stalwart Andrew Luscombe as President. The formalities over, the first offical duty was to organise the Immediate Past Chairman's night out. This was focused around the Rail Ale Train trip between Exeter and Barnstaple. We only need another four pints for our tee-shirts!
