The Baton

Honiton Round Table's great friend Alan Rowe MBE is the driving force behind the Baton charity
The primary mission of The Baton is to raise awareness amongst the British public about the reality of life for service personnel and their families in the British Armed Forces and to ensure that they are given the level of support that they are rightfully due.
The Baton's aim is not to compete with existing forces charities - rather it aims to complement the activities of those charities by focusing on raising awareness about the issues, so providing them with additional support and backing.
Honiton Round Table supported the Baton over remembrance weekend in November by cycling through the lowlands of Europe.
We departed from Honiton on Friday 12th Nov with our six man bike (the Silver Dream Machine) and headed for the ferry crossing and start point in Holland of Sluis, then cycled to Ypres on Sat to attend, with the Baton, the Mennen Gate ceremony. Then on Remembrance Sunday cycled on to Calais via Dunkirk returning to Honiton on Monday.
The cycle ride was a huge challenge for the team and raised awareness of the Batons mission and raised some money at the same time.If you would like to donate some money or words of support then please contact us through the contact page on this site.
